Three things I had to absolutely do while in New York: reconnect with the Italians, spend quality time with a friend I hold close to my heart and watch a musical on Broadway.
Before I even got there, I had my heart set on Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I've always been intrigued by the story and Neil Patrick Harris' Tony performance had me convinced I'd be a total loser if I missed it.

R took me to the Belasco Theatre in the afternoon to score a ticket for the evening show. He had a business dinner so I had a lot of time on my hands.

Truth be told, I was a little disappointed that NPH was done with Hedwig and I wasn't sure if Darren Criss would deliver. He did and he was excellent. There was a microphone malfunction and he ad-libbed his way through it (found out days after) - I wasn't sure if it was part of the act or not.
Another friend, who has watched every actor play Hedwig on Broadway, described how she was a different woman each time. NPH was raunchy, JCM was disillusioned. I think Darren made her sweet and unfortunately unaware.

Sorry, Wicked. Sorry, Rent. Sorry, Avenue Q. Hedwig now tops my list because of the story, acting & music.
After the show, R and I met up with some friends at Therapy on 52nd. Drinks, Drag and a damn good time! It was one of the best days of my life.
